There is currently a homicide investigation in my apartment complex. I’m safe, first and foremost. But wow. This is generally a safe area. I mean, my neighbors once had an Amazon package in front of their door all weekend and nothing happened, if that says anything. No details have been released, but still. And I thought that getting a knife instead of a fork at Zaxby’s would be the most interesting part of my day.

Probably in-family violence. My mom had an issue with some neighbors who moved in. Long story short, one brother stabbed the other to death. As the song goes, “ one goes to the morgue the other to jail.”

I'm pretty sure nothing ever lowers rent. If someone was murdered in your living room, they'd clean it up and raise your rent because you got fresh paint.

Nah, I went up to the counter and asked for a fork. The cashier handed me a knife and quickly walked away before I could say anything.

These sorts of things are rar ely random. You’re likely just as safe as you were before. But yes, it must be quite unnerving.

It can happen anywhere. I live in a very boring town, in an extremely safe neighborhood. Yet our friends three blocks away had six bullets put through their house last month. Their neighbor went kookoo for Cocoa Puffs, and started shooting at a non-existent intruder. Thankfully no one was home.
